Safe zone checker for TikTok, Reels, Stories and Shorts
Drop in a vertical video or image and see what each app's buttons, captions and call-to-action will cover. The overlays use the safe zones TikTok, Meta and YouTube publish themselves, and you can check every placement at once.

Why ads need more room than organic posts
Ads add an ad label, a call-to-action button and sometimes a product anchor, so more of the bottom gets covered. TikTok says its safe zone depends on the video's shape, "ad caption length, and any additional formats used", and its anchor templates show the covered area growing with each line of caption: from 42% of the height with one line to 53% with four.
Meta works the same way. Reels ads need the bottom 35% clear, or 40% if the ad has a disclaimer. Organic posts have a similar layout without the ad label and button, so the ad numbers are a slightly cautious guide for them too.
How to use the templates in CapCut, Canva or Premiere
Download the PNG for your placement and add it as the top layer of a 1080×1920 project. Keep text, faces, logos and the product inside the clear area, then hide or delete the layer before you export.
If one video will run on TikTok, Reels and Shorts, download the Safe everywhere template instead. Its clear area is the part of the frame no placement covers.
Right-to-left apps
In Arabic and other right-to-left interfaces, TikTok moves the button column to the left side. TikTok publishes a separate right-to-left safe zone file for this, and the checker follows it when you turn on Right-to-left. Meta's zones are the same on both sides. Google doesn't publish a right-to-left version for YouTube, so the checker keeps its published layout.
Safe zone questions
What is a safe zone?
It's the part of a vertical video that the app's interface doesn't cover: no buttons, caption, profile name or call-to-action on top of it. Keep text, logos, faces and your product inside it.
What is the TikTok safe zone size?
On TikTok's official in-feed template, keep the top 12.5%, the bottom 34.4% and 11.1% on each side clear, plus the button column on the right. On a 1080×1920 video that's 240 px at the top, 660 px at the bottom, 120 px on each side, and a 300 px column from 840 px down. Ads with an anchor need more room at the bottom.
What is the Instagram Reels safe zone?
Meta asks advertisers to leave at least 14% of the top, 35% of the bottom and 6% on each side free of text, logos and key elements. If your Reels ad has a disclaimer, leave the bottom 40% free.
What is the Instagram Story safe zone?
Meta's Stories guide says to leave roughly 14% at the top and 20% at the bottom free of text and logos, so the call-to-action doesn't cover them. On a 1080×1920 story that's about 269 px at the top and 384 px at the bottom.
Does the checker upload my video?
No. Your browser opens the file and draws it on your screen. Nothing is sent to our servers, and closing the tab clears it.
